TREATERS (HEATER TREATERS, OIL TREATERS)

Treaters, often referred to as heater treaters or oil treaters, are separator vessels used to separate water, gas and other impurities from oil-water emulsions in the production process. RBI treaters heat the oil and water mixture, causing the water to settle at the bottom of the vessel and gas to rise to the top. This allows for any remaining impurities, such as solid particles, to settle to the bottom.

Treaters FAQ

Treaters, also referred to as heater treaters or oil treaters, are separator vessels used to separate water, gas and other impurities from oil-water emulsions in the production process. RBI treaters heat the oil and water mixture, causing water to settle to the bottom of the vessel and gas to rise to the top, allowing solid particles and other remaining impurities to settle out as well.

RBI treaters range from 48″ to 144″ in diameter and are available in pressure ratings of 75#, 125#, 250# and 500#. Both vertical and horizontal designs are offered, with skid options for containment or no containment to suit different site requirements.

RBI treaters are available either fully ASME Code stamped or built to ASME Code but not stamped, depending on the customer’s project requirements. This flexibility allows RBI to meet a wide range of regulatory and operational specifications.RBI treaters are available either fully ASME Code stamped or built to ASME Code but not stamped, depending on the customer’s project requirements. Yes. RBI offers cold weather options including insulated treaters with all internal piping routed inside the vessel, protecting critical components from freezing temperatures. Internal coating options and various inlet devices are also available depending on well application and fluid characteristics.

RBI Treaters are installed across major U.S. producing basins and shale plays, including the Anadarko Basin (SCOOP, STACK), Permian Basin (Wolfcamp, Bone Spring, Spraberry), Williston Basin (Bakken), Appalachian Basin (Marcellus, Utica), DJ Basin (Niobrara), Powder River Basin (Turner, Niobrara), Eagle Ford, Haynesville/Bossier, Fort Worth Basin (Barnett), San Juan Basin and Uinta Basin.
